What DiamondX Stands For
The Diamond
The diamond represents the game itself: the work, the discipline, and the foundation every player builds on over time. It reflects a commitment to learning the game the right way and developing skills that hold up in real competition.
The X
The X represents growth, focus, and the point where preparation meets opportunity. It stands for the extra attention to detail that helps players improve fundamentals, build confidence, and separate themselves through better habits.
The Mission
DiamondX Training exists to help players grow through clear instruction, proven fundamentals, and consistent development. The goal is to give athletes the tools, confidence, and understanding they need to keep improving on and off the field.

Coach Background
Experience
Stephen attended Bellevue High School from 2002 to 2006, where he was a four-year varsity player and started at shortstop as a 14-year-old freshman. He earned 1st Team All-Conference honors as a sophomore, junior, and senior, along with All-State and Preseason All-American recognition before being drafted in the 2nd round of the 2006 MLB Draft by the Washington Nationals.
Coaching Philosophy
Stephen believes strong player development starts with proven fundamentals, clear communication, and consistent repetition with purpose. His approach is focused on helping athletes better understand their mechanics, build confidence through real improvement, and develop habits that support long-term growth.
Why Parents Choose DiamondX
Values and Approach
Parents want more than just extra reps. They want instruction their athlete can understand, coaching that builds confidence, and a trainer who values development the right way. DiamondX Training is built around patience, communication, and helping players make meaningful progress over time.

What Families Are Saying
I first met Stephen four years ago when my then 6 year old son decided he wanted to take a hitting lesson. Stephen was incredibly patient, kind, and positive. He pointed out some mechanical flaws in my son's swing and gently corrected them. But he most importantly provided a ton of atta' boys and positive affirmations. It was a foundational moment in my son's baseball journey, and helped foster a love of baseball that he still carries today.
When I became the head coach of my son's select baseball team I knew exactly who I wanted to help train them. Stephen has been training my now 10U select baseball team for the last two years. He has trained them in both pitching and hitting. He still has the same positive infectious energy, and the boys on my team are always excited to train with him. His drills are always thoughtful, well explained, and effective. He puts a ton of thought into how to attack each individuals flaws and gives them unique drills to help them fix those flaws. I have been blown away by the growth of every one of my players.
I share both experiences to highlight that Stephen is an incredible coach for all levels of players. Whether you're new to the game, or someone with years of experience I would recommend training with Stephen.

Nick K
I’ve had the opportunity to work with Steve in a variety of settings since 2019, including infield camps, winter training for our local Little League, and as a coach for one of my select teams. He is equally effective leading small group camps, team training sessions, and individualized one-on-one lessons.

Both of my sons have trained with Steve for the past eight years, starting in Little League and continuing through middle and high school. His ability to adapt his coaching to their growth has been exceptional. He simplifies fundamentals and key concepts for younger players, then progressively introduces more advanced techniques and challenges as they develop.

Beyond skill development, Steve emphasizes the mental side of the game—approach, confidence, and situational awareness—while drawing on his own playing experience to connect with athletes who aspire to compete at the next level.

He has played a significant role in my sons’ development, and I highly recommend him to any player looking to improve their game.
